7 easy ways to do Cleanup/Facial at home

It’s been a long time since my last blog. I am back with a new one on how to do cleanup/facial at home.

Being busy whole week with lots and lots of work, both outside and inside home becomes hectic for us and by the time weekend arrives we are too tired to step out of home again and go for some cleanup sessions in a salon.

Your face badly needs some care and pampering. Staying outside for whole day makes you face dull and oily. So what you can do is do a cleanup session on your own at home. Barely it takes maximum 30-45 mins if you have all the things handy.

I believe in doing a facial at home on my own and the end results which I get is what gives me relaxation and a soft and supple skin which everyone would like to have.

Benefits of having a cleanup/facial on your own at home:

i. You can save your money by using the products many times.

ii. You can save your time and have time for other things as well.

iii. You can use the products that you like and suits you well.

Steps to be followed for cleanup/facial:

i) Cleansing your skin with a cleanser – The cleanser will help in removing make-up, dead skin cells, oil, dirt, and other types of pollutants from the skin. It will also help to unclog pores and prevent skin conditions such as acne.

ii) Steaming your face – Steaming will help in opening the pores and pull out the dirt from your face. Your skin will be able to absorb the products you use like face masks/packs. It enhances the circulation.

Note: While steaming your face maintain a distance of at least 6 inches or else your skin might get burnt from the hot steam coming out.

iii) Exfoliate your skin – Exfoliating your skin is one of the most important part of your facial process. Use a good scrubber to scrub your skin to get rid of the dead skin cells and dirt properly. One minute of scrubbing is enough as over-scrubbing can make your skin harsh.

iv) Apply face mask/pack – The next step is to apply the face mask/pack. Our skin is now ready to absorb the product well which will result in a soft and supple skin. Use any clay face mask/pack or whatever product suits you well. This will remove the excess oil from your skin and will rejuvenate your skin. Apply the mask with a face pack brush leaving the eye and lip area and leave it for 10 minutes to dry. After that you can wash your face with luke warm water. You will feel refreshed and energetic.

v) Toning your skin – Toning your skin is very important after you apply the pack. Large facial pores allow more dirt, oil and toxins to enter the skin and cause irritation and infections. Facial toners tighten your pores, allowing fewer oils and toxins to settle into the skin. This creates a fresher, cleaner and less oily appearance preventing acne.

vi) Applying eye cream – The skin under your eyes is extremely sensitive. Chances of wrinkles, dark circles and fine lines are very high. Eye cream helps to nourish the skin, keep it moisturized and prevent dullness. … They also soften fine lines and make the skin under your eyes look youthful.

vii) Moisturize your face – After going through all the above processes your skin is now totally dry, so moisturizing your skin will hydrate the skin. Moisturize your skin with the most suitable product for your skin and try to apply it in moist skin which will help the skin to absorb it better.

After all these processes are done you can feel the difference. Your will have a glowing and radiant skin. If you have dry skin you can follow this process twice a week and if skin is oily you can try it thrice a week for best results.

Other steps to be followed everyday to get naturally glowing skin:

i. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

ii. Keep lot of fruits in your diet.

iii. Follow a healthy diet.

iv. Follow the cleansing, toning and moisturizing process everyday.

v. Cover your face with a stole while in traffic.

vi. Take less stress as it can release toxins in your body which will be visible on your face and can result in wrinkles and ageing.

Why you shouldn’t skip your Breakfast??

Today we’ll talk about something very important for us to stay healthy and energetic.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s been a decade since we are familiar with this. This is what scientists and mothers have been saying and yes there’s a reason behind this!! Studies have shown that what you eat in breakfast has a significant role in how our body works throughout the day. A healthy breakfast is not only crucial for maintaining a healthy weight, it also provides your body with all the nutrients that are needed to fuel up your body to work efficiently.

Now-a-days most of the people consider their lives to be very busy and don’t have time for breakfast. They think of making up the missed breakfast by eating a little later which is so-called “brunch”. There are many reasons why this is a very big mistake you are making.

Reasons why skipping breakfast is not a good idea :

  • Breakfast gets our metabolism running  At morning our blood sugar is low because at night all the blood sugar has been used up by our body to repair itself. So metabolism slows down when we wake up in morning and that is the reason we feel sluggish and tired. But when we eat nutrient rich food our metabolism is kick-started and our body gets all the energy that is needed to start our day well.   • Skipping breakfast can result in overeating for the rest of the day – When you are skipping your breakfast, you are depriving your body of all the essential nutrients that are required to start your day. This will result in overeating as your body will try to gain all the missing nutrients and you will  end up in eating more sugary and fat content food to restore back the lost energy which in turn will affect your health like gaining more weight instead of losing.                                                                                                                                            
  • Breakfast is essential for brain function and Mood – Breakfast should not only be looked at as a means to maintain a healthy weight but it also plays a very vital role in how our brain works. Our brain requires different nutrients to function well. Once your brain gets charged with all the nutrients it helps the whole body to remain fresh and energetic.   • Risk of heart diseasesPeople who tend to skip breakfast can develop the risk of heart disease.   • Risk of Diabetes – There is a strong correlation between eating habits and your health. Those who avoid eating breakfast are at a high risk of developing type-2 diabetes. Breakfast helps to regulate your blood sugar in a healthy way.                               

What you should eat in breakfast?

Different people eat different breakfasts, but everything is not ideal for a good health. Food with no high fat or sugar content are the best. Our breakfast should include food rich in protein and fibers. Here are some of the best foods that you can include in your breakfast:

 

  • Whole Grains such as oatmeal, whole grain bread (brown bread) and cereals.
  • Eggs (boiled eggs are more nutritious).
  • Yogurt (with little or no added sugar).
  • Fruits (like banana, apple, orange, grapes, pomegranate).
  • Nuts and seeds (like almond, flax seeds).

It doesn’t need to be a very large or extravagant meal. The important thing is to eat something as healthy as possible within two hours of waking. This will give your brain, heart, and other systems in the body the nutrients necessary for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

10 Important Health and Fitness Tips for Busy People!!!

Hello my readers!!! It’s been quite a few days since I wrote my last blog. Here I am back again with a very useful blog for people who rarely finds time for themselves because of busy schedule. Some great tips for busy people to stay healthy and fit.

Wondering??? How is it possible to stay healthy and fit despite being busy all day long?? Yes, it might be difficult but not impossible. Everyone wants to be healthy, just it needs a mind full of dedication and little bit of time from your day.

Here are some tips to stay healthy and fit without hampering your day to day work.

  1. First thing to do after you wake up in morning is to drink 1 litre of water. The reason is at night our body repairs itself and releases the toxins in our body. Drinking water in empty stomach will help our bowel movements easy and get rid of the toxins from our body. Water also helps re-hydrate our body and speeds up metabolism. Drink more water during day and less at night.

  2. Do yoga and meditation to start your day fresh. Once you understand the benefits of this, you can do it very easily even when you have a jam-packed day.

  3. Eat a healthy and heavy breakfast as whole night our stomach would be empty. So this is the time when you should have a proper meal to regain the energy back so that your day goes healthy and fresh.”One should have Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and Dinner like a Pauper”
  4. You should list down your to-do-list and prioritize your activities accordingly.        Follow at least one of the top priorities everyday even if it is just for 15 mins.

  5. Follow vegan diets on weekdays. Having non-veg once a week is fine. Cut out red meat from your meal. Eat a lot of green vegetables and fruits everyday. Your body should have adequate intake of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. 

  6. During your busy time don’t just grab foods with lot of fat content or junk foods. Always keep optimum stock of food in your bag so that your diet is not disturbed. Keep foods like tomatoes, spinach, blueberries, dates.
  7. One of the most important tip to stay fit and healthy is relax. When your day is full of meetings with a busy evening, your stress levels go high which can impact your health. Watch out funny movies or funny YouTube videos to bring down your stress level. A good amount of laughter can help stress to vanish.
  8. When you are in office, try to take stairs instead of lifts. This can burn the extra calories in your body. Taking stairs can even help your joints from getting jammed.
  9. When you are back home from a long and tiring work, spend time with your family or friends. Try to stay away from your mobile and social media for sometime as family and friends give the happiness that nothing could ever give.
  10. Last but not the least, those who have to travel a lot for work from one place to another, they should pick up a good hotel with facilities like gym and healthy food. Because studies have showed that people who travel frequently has more risk of being obese compared to those travelling 2 or 3 times a month.

At last I would like to add that following a diet doesn’t mean to stop eating. It means to cut out the intake of food that harms our body and have healthy and the appropriate amount of food needed for our body.

Have you all heard about Hydroponic Farming? Is it new to you?

Then let’s find out what it actually is.. I came across this new way of farming few days back. And people are engaging themselves into these kind of farming.

This process can even be followed by common people like us with a good knowledge on it. There are many YouTube video tutorials of how people have started this kind of farming. This kind of farming may replace soil based agriculture in the near future. So let’s see what is it and how it works.

What is Hydroponic Farming?

Hydroponics is a subset of hydroculture, the method of growing plants without soil, using mineral nutrient solutions in a water solvent. Terrestrial plants may be grown with only their roots exposed to the mineral solution, or the roots may be supported by an inert medium, such as perlite or gravel. The nutrients in hydroponics can come from an array of different sources; these can include but are not limited to byproduct from fish waste, duck manure, or commercial fertilisers.

Techniques:

There are two main variations for each medium, sub-irrigation and top irrigation. For all techniques, most hydroponic reservoirs are now built of plastic, but other materials have been used including concrete, glass, metal, vegetable solids, and wood. The containers should exclude light to prevent algae and fungal growth in the nutrient solution.

But there might be one question in your mind.

Why to use a hydroponic system?

Are you wondering why to use hydroponic system when we can just do our farming in our backyard? Why there is any need to use this kind of farming?

Well there are many reasons why it has come up. We’ll see the reason here.

The reason is that there are some places in the world where traditional agriculture is not possible mainly in densely populated countries where there are very few or no farmlands. Another most important thing is that it can help the environment in many ways. It requires only 10% of water that the soil based agriculture requires. The water  and the nutrient solutions can be recycled in hydroponics. Very less or no pesticides are required so no chemicals are released to air. Moreover the plants that grow here are clean and fresh.

Cost:

To set up the hydroponic farming requires a huge amount of money but again that is less as compared to soil based agriculture. We are getting many benefits from this kind of farming so even if the set up cost is more, there will always be fruitful outcomes.

Fish Curry Recipe!!!

Today I am going to share with you all a very delicious recipe.

So let’s get started…

Preparation Time: 15 mins

Cooking time: 30 mins

Ingredients:

  • Rohu fish, onion, tomato, ginger and garlic paste.
  • Masala/Spices – Cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste.

Note: You can also add potato pieces but that is optional. In my recipe I have added potato. In case you are adding potato in this recipe, add these potatoes while cooking the masala so that salt enters into the potato well.

 

Steps:

Preparation:

  • Here I have taken 500 gms of fish. So first we have to marinate the fish well with turmeric powder and salt and let it rest for 15 mins. This will make the fish tastier as the turmeric powder and the salt will be absorbed by the fish.
  • Take one big onion, one tomato, 1/2 inch ginger and 4 garlic cloves.
  • Cut the onion into half – one half we will slice and the other half half we will use for making the paste.
  • Cut the tomato into smaller pieces.
  • Prepare a paste of onion, tomato, ginger and garlic using a mixer grinder.

Cooking:

  • Take 10 tbsp of oil in a pan and heat it well (We have to fry the fish in oil first to make it a little crispy. During this process oil will be soaked by the fish so we have to take more oil)
  • Fry the fish till it turns yellowish from pink. (While frying add a pinch of salt and turmeric in the oil and mix it. While frying the fish please take precautions as droplets of hot oil can come out)
  • Keep it out in a plate after frying. (Do not over-fry as it will make the fish hard and you won’t get a better taste of the fish)
  • After all the fish pieces are fried, we will cook our masala in the left-over oil in the pan.
  • Add the sliced onion in the oil and fry till golden brown.
  • Add the tomato pieces, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste. Saute for 5 mins.
  • Add the paste (ginger, garlic, tomato and onion) to it and saute till oil starts separating from the masala. (Oil separating means our masala is cooked well and the raw smell have disappeared)
  • Now add 4 cups of water and add the fried fish pieces in it. (Our fish is already half cooked while frying)
  • Stir a little and let it boil for 15 mins. (Do not stir hard as the fish pieces can break)
  • After this you can server the curry with hot rice or tortilla/roti/chapatti.

Lauki Ka Kofta (Bottlegourd Kofta)

We must eat healthy to stay healthy.. Right?? As they say “Health is Wealth”.

But when it’s weekend, we crave for some good and mouth watering recipes. Isn’t it?

Most of us basically prefer to hang out with friends in weekends to have good food and spend a good time together outside. But when it’s home made recipe and that too a delicious one, then one would definitely like to stay at home and enjoy the dish.

Today’s blog is about my new recipe – “Lauki ka kofta” (Lauki is healthy to eat and tasty too. There are many benefits (visit link to know more) of adding bottle gourd to your diet). This is a vegetarian dish liked by many. I too like it a lot. This was the first time I prepared this dish. I thought the final result would not be that much good as it was my first try, but to my surprise it turned out to be yummy.  🙂

I was very happy that I cooked well and thus wanted to share the recipe with all. Hope you will like it.

Below is the recipe of the dish:

Preparation Time: 30 mins

Cooking Time: 30 mins

Ingredients:

  1. One medium sized bottle gourd
  2. Two small sized onions, two medium sized tomatoes, for green chillies
  3. Ginger and garlic paste
  4. Spices – cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilly powder
  5. Salt to taste

 

Steps:

Making of Kofta balls:

  • Grate the bottle gourd using a grater into small pieces
  • After grating is done, squeeze out all the water from the bottle gourd pieces as we would not able to make the kofta balls as water content in lauki is more(96%).
  • Add 4 tbsp gram flour (besan), one finely chopped onion, two finely chopped chillies, 1 tsp tumeric, 1 tsp jeera powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp chilly powder and 2 tsp salt(add salt after making the paste). The paste should be dry to normal. Do not make it watery.
  • After making the paste, make small shaped balls out of it.
  • Heat ample quantity of oil in a pan. Heat it well.
  • Add the kofta balls and fry till golden brown. Keep the gas flame low to medium as cooking of the gram flour is necessary. If the flame is high, the kofta balls would turn brown from outside but from inside it would be raw.
  • Take out the kofta balls out of the pan and keep aside.

 

Preparation of the gravy:

  • Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan.
  • Add onion and saute for 2 mins.
  • Add the ginger garlic paste and the tomato puree.
  • Add all the spices – cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilly powder and salt to taste.
  • Saute these ingredients well till oil starts separating.
  • Add water to it, cover with lid and boil in in low to medium flame for 2 mins.
  • Add the kofta balls and let it boil for another 1 min.
  • Let it rest for sometime so that the kofta balls soak the gravy and become soft.
  • Before serving add slitted green chillies and coriander leaves for garnishing.

Is telling a lie more comforting than an unpleasant truth?? | Just a random thought..

Today’s post is about a random thought that I have in my mind. So just wanted to share with you all.

Sometimes we are in a situation when we are in a dilemma of what to say – a lie or the truth??

A lie is some fake story that our mind generates while we do not want to speak the harsh or unpleasant truth. This can hurt us or the person who is being told a lie, for a lifetime.

Why do we feel telling a lie is more easier than saying the truth??

Is it because our mind is afraid to accept the consequences that we are going to face after telling the truth or is it the temporary comfort we look for in telling a lie??

But from whom are we hiding the truth??

Our soul knows it all, then how can a lie be comfortable. That one lie can snatch your happiness from you, make you feel guilty life long.

Speaking out the harsh truth may be difficult but only for the time being. It is temporary. As time passes everything can become normal, at least there would be peace within you. You wouldn’t feel the pain from inside which a lie can definitely give. It can cost you, your happiness, your peace of mind.

I feel telling the truth makes more sense than a lie. I would be happy that I don’t have to hide something from anyone, whatever it is but at least it is truth. I can walk with dignity.

Telling a single lie makes you tell a hundred more lies just to hide the first lie. Just imagine the pressure on your mind. How can you be happy then?? That one lie would haunt you like a ghost every time.

The best thing of speaking the truth is you don’t have to remember anything before speaking. Peace of mind matters the most for everyone 🙂
